Trans-National Access Programme Call for Proposals 2021A - GREGOR, SST and VTT
SOLARNET is pleased to announce its seventh
call for proposals of its Access Programme for the Solar telescopes GREGOR, SST and THEMIS
Period: 2021A Proposal
Submission Deadline: 25 January 2021, 23:59 UT
Send proposals
to: east-tac@astro.su.se
Proposals are hereby invited under the SOLARNET Trans-National Access Programme
for observing time at the solar telescopes GREGOR (Tenerife), SST (La Palma)
and THEMIS (Tenerife). This call also includes observing time in the
International Time Program (ITP) for GREGOR and THEMIS.
Proposals will be handled by the EAST TAC, a common European time allocation
committee installed by the European Association for Solar Telescopes.
Typically, successful proposals in PI visitor mode will be awarded with around
10 observing days. SOLARNET campaigns also get travel grants for two visiting
researchers going to the telescope. For GREGOR, this travel may go to Freiburg
for remote observations dependent on possible travel restrictions.
In 2021, the SST will provide some of its time in service mode, thus not
requiring visits by the investigators. Under SOLARNET, SST will also provide
users with reduced data for selected data sets.
This call is for the whole observing season (April-October) for SST and THEMIS
and for its first half (April-August) for GREGOR. We expect an additional call
later in 2021 for GREGOR where also VTT will be available.
New users of the facilities are encouraged to apply. Certain criteria of
eligibility related to the nationalities of the applicants exist and are
different for each telescope:
For SOLARNET time, the PI and at least half the Co-I's must have affiliations
other than Germany (for GREGOR), Sweden (for SST), France (for THEMIS) or Spain
(for all three telescopes). Otherwise this call is open to the world,
making use of an option in the rules for Access programmes that allow a quota
for non-EU and non-associated countries.
For ITP time (GREGOR and THEMIS only), applications must include researchers
with affiliations in at least two of the following countries: Spain, UK,
Germany, France, Italy, Finland and Belgium.
Data acquired in the SOLARNET Access Programme will become public one year after being delivered to the PI.
